Paragon Europe in Malta is looking to recruit a corporate-driven, results-oriented and energetic Litigation Lawyer for one of our clients which is a leader within the Insurance sector sphere on a full-time basis which will be reporting to the Head of Legal.
A typical day might include:
Coordinating all legal matters within the Claims Area including acting as the first point of reference and legal advisor for all internal stakeholders on litigation matters relating to claims and to act as the liaison with the appointed corporate or external legal advisors where applicable;
Representing the Company in Court and, where necessary, advising and coordinating the external legal advisor, thereby ensuring the best representation of the interests of the Company and/or its policyholders;
Draft and/or review judicial acts and/or settlement agreements and/or prepare and/or coordinate Court procedures alone or in conjunction with external legal advisors in order to ensure the best defence of the Company;
Review of relevant policy wordings (new and existing);
Keeping up-to-date with developments in insurance legislation and relevant jurisprudence;
Liaison with Group Legal;
Debtors – credit control relative to Claims;
Coordinate and be responsible for court requests including witness summons.
You must possess and be good at:
A degree in Law from the University of Malta or equivalent and a warrant to practice law in Malta.
A minimum of 2 years of litigation experience.
Previous experience with a bank, insurance company, MFSA or CBM would be considered an asset.
